I wanted to dedicate my first blog post to my 7 month old kitten, Pretzel. He has been with me for 5 months now and it’s amazing to see how much he has grown and shaped my life! I’ve always wanted to have a pet since I was a child (I wrote countless letters to Santa wishing for a dog) and one weekend, I decided to pick this little guy up!
His name was Jon Snow at the SF SPCA and being a huge GOT fan, I was instantly drawn to him. But of course, I had to change the name and I randomly decided that Pretzel would be the most fitting. It’s short and sweet 🙂
Here he graduated from SF SPCA Kitten Kindergarten where he met lots of other kittens for socialization and playtime! I learned how to teach Pretzel to sit!
While deciding to become a pet owner came as a surprise for me (SPCA was having a free adoption weekend), I knew that it came with enormous responsibilities. During the first few months, Pretzel was a little sick so I made frequent trips to the vet and would always be rushing home from work to see if he was okay. Before the 6 month mark, kittens need more attention but they start to mature and become more independent afterwards. I’m happy to say that Pretzel is perfectly healthy now and is a huge ball of energy!
Being a huMOM has been one of the best decisions of my life and I can’t imagine my life without Pretz. Now my mornings are filled with cat snuggles and kisses! He seems to know when I open my eyes because he’ll get up from wherever he is to jump on the bed and nudge my hand for pets 🙂
To any future pet owners out there, I highly encourage adoption because there are so many furry babies who need a home and if you time it right, you won’t even need to pay an adoption fee! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about adoption or cats in general!
